GUIDELINES
At St Therese’s Catholic Primary School, we value the important contribution homework can make to the development of each child’s literacy and numeracy skills and the establishment of a commitment to creating lifelong learners.
Homework may be completed daily or over a weekly or fortnightly period and can take many forms
including but not limited to:
• reading
• number strategies
• handouts/computer-based activities
• revising and studying
• completion and extension of class work, projects and research
Suggested Homework Time per Weeknight
Prep
15 mins daily reading (includes sight words)
Year 1, 2, 3
20 mins per day
(not more than 1.5 hrs per week)
Year 4 & 5
25 - 35 mins per day (not more than 2-3 hrs per week)
Year 6
35 - 45 mins per day (not more than 3-4 hrs per week)
